NANCHANG -- All the workers trapped in a karst cave in East China's Jiangxi province have been rescued, authorities said Wednesday.
Eight workers became trapped when exploring an undeveloped underground karst cave at about 10:30 am Sunday in the township of Heyao in Pingxiang city, according to the local government. The first three workers were rescued Monday.
The remaining five were rescued around 4 am Wednesday. The workers had prepared food before becoming trapped, and ventilation was good in the 2-km-long cave, the government said.
More than 200 people were engaged in the rescue work.
