Rugby was the other big winner on this star-studded evening with New Zealand's rugby team, the All Blacks, taking the Laureus Team Award, while New Zealand rugby union player Dan Carter received the Laureus Comeback of the Year Award after the team' s Rugby World Cup success.
Laureus Disability Award went to Brazilian Paralympic swimmer Daniel Dias for the third time.
