Beethoven's strings

The Shanghai Quartet will play the complete Beethoven string quartets in concert. The ensemble consisting of violinists Li Weigang and Jiang Yiwen, violist Li Honggang and cellist Nicholas Tzavaras was formed at the Shanghai Conservatory in 1983 and is now recognized as one of the foremost chamber groups in the world.

Original opera

Regret for the Past is a Chinese opera adapted from a novel of the same name by Lu Xun. Written in 1981 by composer Shi Guangnan, the opera is recognized as China's first original operatic production. China Opera and Dance Theater will present a new production of the opera, which tells a tragic love story set in the early 20th century.
