Recently,Shaanxi Conservation Institute and Wuhan University did a joint survelliance study on the Maoling stone carvings in Xingping city, Shaanxi province. The study is a part of the preparatory work prior to a renovation that will be carried out on the ancient relic site.

Maoling is the tomb of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. It is also the biggest one of all the emperors' tombs from the Western Han Dynasty.
