BEIJING -- China's software industry maintained an average monthly growth rate of 30 percent in the January-August period of this year, data released on Sept 26 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) showed.

By the end of August, the industry's revenue hit 1.112 trillion yuan ($174.47 billion), registering year-on-year growth of 30.5 percent, or 0.7 percentage point higher than the corresponding period of last year.

In August alone, revenue totaled 153.2 billion yuan, a growth of 36.3 percent year-on-year, or 4.9 percentage points higher than the previous month, according to MIIT.

Between January and August, the sector exported $18 billion worth of products, registering an increase of 14.7 percent over the same period of 2010, but the growth was 11.7 percentage points lower than that of the January-August period of last year.
