Shanghai Jiao Tong University launched its "future youth leaders" global competence program on Friday. The program focuses on helping young people develop a deeper love for their country, a global perspective, professional skills and practical abilities.

As the world undergoes profound changes and people become increasingly interconnected, the initiative represents an effort by the university to reform international talent development and meet the national demand for talent in global governance.

The inaugural program consists of nine project groups, which provide continuous support for participants in research training, issue analysis and practical development, with the goal of nurturing talents equipped with language, technical, regional, country-specific, field and industry skills.

During Friday's opening ceremony, a number of professors and guest speakers emphasized that the modern era requires young people with a global vision, strategic insight and the ability to take action.

They urged the students to integrate their personal growth with national development and global changes, actively engaging in various industries, international organizations and global affairs in an effort to contribute to the building of world peace, stability and common development.
