China on Thursday urged the Netherlands to create favorable conditions to help semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia settle internal disputes as soon as possible and to maintain the stability of the global semiconductor industry and supply chains.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular news briefing in response to a media query about a ruling by an Amsterdam appeals court ordering a formal investigation into alleged "mismanagement" at Nexperia, a Chinese-owned chip firm.

Lin emphasized that relevant Chinese authorities have repeatedly clarified their position on issues concerning Nexperia, adding that the root cause of the matter lies in improper administrative intervention by the Dutch side in the company's operations.

"China will continue to support Chinese enterprises in safeguarding their legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law," he added.

Nexperia, a Dutch semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in the Netherlands, has been owned by China's Wingtech Technology since 2019.
