A Chinese research center showcased on Monday what it said was the world's fastest full-size humanoid robot, marking a milestone in high-speed robotic movement and control, China Central Television reported.

The humanoid robot, named Bolt after sprinting legend Usain Bolt, was jointly developed by Zhejiang University-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center, MirrorMe Technology, and Hangzhou Kaierda Welding Robot Co, the center said on its WeChat account on Monday.

Standing 1.75 meters tall and weighing 75 kilograms, Bolt was designed as a technological platform aimed at approaching human athletic performance. The research team said the robot is capable of reaching a peak speed of 10 meters per second, making it the first full-size humanoid robot globally to achieve that level of speed.

The project was described as a typical example of close integration between university research strengths and industrial engineering capabilities. The center said it had delivered breakthroughs in key areas, including robotic motion control, dynamic balance, and high-power drive systems.

During the testing phase, Wang Hongtao, head of Humanoid Robotics Research Institute under the center and founder of MirrorMe Technology, personally took part in on-site trials to verify the robot's movement performance, according to the statement.

By 2025, China had more than 140 domestic humanoid robot manufacturers, with over 330 humanoid robot models released. Industry analysts widely regard 2025 as the start of large-scale production for humanoid robots, with commercial deployment gaining momentum, CCTV said.
