Intl students experience Chinese New Year celebration in Shanghai
As the Chinese New Year approaches, Siping Cinema in Shanghai's Yangpu district treated nearly 100 international students from universities across the city to a Year of the Horse celebration on Feb 2.
The event featured a variety of cultural experiences, including the release of six trendy blind boxes and a calligraphy event. With the guidance of instructors, participants created personalized Spring Festival couplets and wrote the Chinese character "fu".
The highlight of the celebration was the screening of the documentary film, The Moon is Yours, directed by Fudan University alumna, Wu Bei.
The film is the result of a three-year project launched in September 2022 by the School of Journalism at Fudan University following six international students of different nationalities and majors, documenting their experiences while studying in China.
Elijah Knowles, a 24-year-old from the United States who is currently studying Wushu at Shanghai University of Sport, expressed how much he enjoyed the event, calling it a perfect example of the "plenty of everything" experience that Shanghai offers to international students.
