From January to November 2025, Chinese procuratorates approved the arrest of 604,000 criminal suspects and officially charged 1.27 million individuals, the Supreme People's Procuratorate announced Monday.

At its annual work conference in Beijing, the Procuratorate emphasized its commitment to balancing development and security, enforcing a policy that combines leniency with severity, and striving to safeguard national security throughout the year.

Prosecuting authorities intensified efforts to combat organized crime and gang activity, prosecuting 8,528 gang-related criminals and 58 of their protectors in the first 11 months. Crimes undermining public security were rigorously addressed, with 446,000 people prosecuted for offenses such as pornography, gambling, drug-related crimes, theft, robbery, and fraud.

Efforts to enhance work safety resulted in 4,014 prosecutions in the same period. Special campaigns against cross-border telecom and online fraud led to the prosecution of 62,000 suspects.

The SPP also advanced cyber governance, targeting online rumors, cyberbullying, and "online trolls", while enhancing cyberspace governance mechanisms. During this period, 166,000 cybercrime suspects were prosecuted, along with 5,440 individuals involved in the infringement of personal information.

In the realm of anti-corruption, procuratorial organs accepted 27,000 duty-related crime cases transferred by supervisory commissions, marking an 11.3 percent year-on-year increase, and prosecuted 26,000 suspects.
