Lin Kuan-ting, from Taipei, said that participating in the documentary gave him a deeper appreciation of Taiwan's modern history. "During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), patriotic compatriots from Taiwan believed that 'to save Taiwan, one must first save the motherland,'" he said.

"Today, as the motherland grows stronger, patriotic compatriots in Taiwan look forward to an even brighter future."

Li Zhenguang, dean of the Taiwan Research Institute at Beijing Union University, stressed the importance of remembering this part of history. " Youth from the mainland have not forgotten, and neither have the young people from Taiwan represented by these four," he said.

"Young people who remember history represent the nation's future, and they are the hope of the Chinese nation," Li added.
