"The commemoration of Taiwan's recovery also honors the unyielding resistance of the Taiwan people against Japanese occupation," said Lin Ching-mao from Changhua county, Taiwan, who is studying at Peking University.
He said the 80th anniversary provides an opportunity to help people in Taiwan better understand the history of its recovery and its significance today, calling for a correct view of history.
