BYD reports steady revenue growth
China's leading new energy vehicle manufacturer BYD Co Ltd has reported strong profit and revenue growth in the first half of 2025. The Shenzhen-based company said that it achieved a revenue of 371.28 billion yuan ($52.3 billion) in the first half of the year, which was up 23.3 percent year-on-year, and a net profit attributable to shareholders of 15.51 billion yuan, up 13.79 percent compared to the same period last year.
Yuan weakens against greenback
The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 42 pips to 7.1072 against the US dollar on Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System. In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
