An increasing number of pet owners have started taking their "furry children" to see traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.

Common traditional Chinese veterinary treatments involve acupuncture, herbal medicine and massage.

Hu Yusheng, an expert in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine in Beijing, said during an interview with China Daily that the oldest dog he has treated was 24 years old. The most outstanding and valuable characteristic of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine is its philosophy toward life and disease, he added.
