Sunday marks this year's World Meteorological Day, focusing on closing the early warning gap. Chen Zhenlin, head of the China Meteorological Administration, told China Daily in a recent exclusive interview that the country will launch three Fengyun geostationary meteorological satellites over the next two years to enhance global early warning systems.

The satellites, one optical satellite over the Indian Ocean and two over the western Pacific, are in the final phase of integration testing. The deployment of these satellites will be a groundbreaking development to the global early warning system. It will benefit billions in tackling climate change and supporting the United Nations' Early Warnings for All initiative.
