Stampede injures students in Xinjiang
An accidental stampede occurred at a high school in Kashgar, Xinjiang, on Monday, with three students seriously injured and currently being treated intensively, while another 11 with minor injuries are being kept in the hospital for observation, local media reported.
The report said that the stampede began when a group of students from the Eighth Middle School of Kashgar were going from the dormitory building to the classroom building for classes, a student accidentally fell in the stairwell, causing students behind to fall and resulting in a stampede at 3:25 pm.
After the incident, emergency response plans were immediately activated by local authorities with education, health and other departments rushing to the scene for handling, Kashgar converged media center said on Monday night. The cause of the accident is still going on, it said.
