Beijing -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday sent a message to Luis Abinader, congratulating him on re-election as president of the Dominican Republic.

Xi pointed out that the current relations between China and the Dominican Republic maintain positive development momentum.

Mutual political trust has been continuously deepening, practical cooperation has seen fruitful results and the two sides have maintained close coordination in international and regional affairs, he added.

Xi also said he highly regards the relations between the two countries, and appreciates Abinader's firm adherence to the one-China policy, adding that he stands ready to work with President Abinader in continuing to guide bilateral ties to reach new heights and to let the achievements of cooperation better benefit people of the two countries.
