Traditional Chinese clothing festival proposed for Xi'an
A political advisor has suggested setting up a clothing culture festival for the Han (206 BC-AD 220) and Tang (618-907) Dynasties in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, to generate more tourism revenue.
Luo Yi, a member of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of Simepower Technology Co, said the popularity of traditional Chinese clothes nowadays means that Chinese people have profound affirmation for Chinese culture.
Therefore, more products of traditional Chinese culture, combining art, music, painting, and clothing, should be created, he said.
Xi'an has a market base for such products, so he suggested setting up a culture festival in Shaanxi to build a new tourism and culture IP for the province.
He also suggested inviting art groups, catering groups and tourists from countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative to participate in the festival.
The province can also hold music, food, poetry and calligraphy festivals of the Han and Tang Dynasties to enrich the brand, he added.
