Table tennis legend denies corruption rumors
Chinese table tennis legend and Olympic champion Deng Yaping dismissed rumors claiming that she has been investigated for corruption.
In a statement issued via her lawyers at Beijing Docvit Law Firm on Saturday, Deng said some netizens have fabricated, insinuated and spread rumors of her being taken away by law enforcement authorities for corruption on different social media platforms.
Whatever their motives are, such false allegations have led to significant negative impact on her reputation and life, the statement said.
They have also caused the public to hold negative views on her and led to serious social impact, it said.
The netizens should immediately stop publishing and spreading false information and delete existing false posts. Deng has the right to hold them legally accountable, the statement added.
