Chen Yixin appointed head of the Ministry of State Security

Chen Yixin, former secretary-general of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, was appointed as the head of the Ministry of State Security on Sunday.

The announcement was made by the National People's Congress Standing Committee. Former State Security Minister Chen Wenqing has become the Party Secretary of the commission.

Before becoming secretary-general of the commission in March 2018, Chen Yixin, 63, served as the deputy Party secretary of Hubei province and Party chief of Wuhan city. He was also the Party chief of Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, between June 2013 and November 2015.
