A wild Amur leopard, a critically endangered big cat, was photographed recently by multiple infrared cameras set up in the Tianqiaoling Forest of Jilin province.

The leopard is on the red list of threatened species maintained by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

From Aug 1 to 3, three infrared cameras captured images of an Amur leopard three times. Experts identified the animal by its physical characteristics, travel route and time.

In recent years, the bureau has strengthened its protection efforts. More than 1,500 infrared cameras have been set up in the region to monitor wildlife and since the beginning of the year have recorded animals 1,065 times, including a wild Siberian tiger and Amur leopard several times.
