MARTIN JACQUES
Martin Jacques is one of the most important voices on China in the West.
His book When China Rules the World: The End of the Western World and the Birth of a New Global Order, now widely regarded as a classic, has profoundly shaped the debate about China for more than a decade.
An influential intellectual, Jacques believes China's emergence as a moderately prosperous society, which has delivered 850 million people out of poverty, is one of the greatest achievements by any country in human history.
