Russian COVID-19 cases exceed 520,000

MOSCOW — Russia recorded 8,706 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 520,129, the country's coronavirus response center said in a statement Saturday.
The death toll grew by 114 to 6,829, while 274,641 people have recovered, including 5,271 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.
Moscow, the country's worst-hit region, reported 1,493 newly confirmed cases, taking its tally of infections to 204,428. So far, 119,558 patients have recovered in the city.
As of Friday, 322,498 people were under medical observation, while over 14.5 million COVID-19 tests have been conducted nationwide, Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog said in a statement Saturday.
