Italian police to investigate care home deaths

The ANSA news agency reported that Italian police have raided the offices of the Lombardy regional government as they investigate the novel coronavirus-related deaths of elderly residents at care homes across this region. A survey by Italy's National Health Institute of 577 nursing homes found that between February 1 and April 6, there were 3,859 deaths in these homes, 1,822 of which took place in Lombardy.
