BEIJING -- Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will hold consultations with the Republic of Korea's top national security adviser Chung Eui-yong Saturday in Beijing.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying made the announcement at a regular press briefing on Friday.

"This is a routine discussion. The two sides will exchange views on the situation of the Korean Peninsula, China-ROK relations and other issues of common concern," Hua said.

Yang is also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee.
