Experts discuss planning for Hainan's economy zone
Top-level experts from China and abroad held a discussion in Haikou, the capital of Hainan province, on May on planning for the headquarters economy zone in Hainan.
The dozen experts represented architectural planning and design. With strong support from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, they offered advice and suggestions on urban and regional planning, development paths, important building design, harmonious development between city and nature, urban reshaping and pace of construction.
Liu Cigui, secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, expressed his hope that the experts might give advice on efficient use of space, a rational traffic layout, harmony between man and nature and deep integration between buildings and the environment based on world-class standards and full-scale research on the planning of Hainan's pilot international free trade zone and free trade port.
Huang Yan, vice-minister of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, said that the construction of Hainan's free trade zone and port is of great significance to comprehensively deepening reform and opening-up in the new era and forming a higher-level pattern.
High-standard construction will be promoted with a people-oriented policy at a scientific and reasonable pace to coordinate internal relationships between production, living and environmental protection, according to the meeting.
