China assigns tasks in government work report to departments
BEIJING - The Chinese government has assigned the tasks set out in the Report on the Work of the Government to ministries and departments of the State Council.
Those government organs should make plans for completing the tasks, and step up measures that are anticipated by the market and the people, according to a statement released after a State Council executive meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday.
The government will ensure that this year's economic and social development targets are met and that the new term of government has a good start, it added.
Governments at all levels should make policy more coordinated, targeted and effective, make continued efforts in streamlining administrative approvals, and cut taxes and fees.
The country should make good on its promises to the people by focusing on people's livelihood, including employment, education, medical services and old-age care, the statement said.
