TOKYO - A 13-meter high and 28-meter wide wooden gate in Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo caught fire early Monday and the police believed the fire was deliberately set.

The fire was reported to the police by a male security guard working for the shrine at 4 am. The fire was put out soon without injury but the pole of the gate was charred.

The surveillance video showed a man in black poured some liquid and set the gate on fire. The police found two glass containers of fuel oil near the crime scene.

According to the local media, the case may relate with a Korean who threatened to burn the Yasikuni shrine on the Internet. But the police deny the link between the tow things, because there are thousands of threats like that on the internet every day.
