Finnish leaders send condolences over Moscow blast

HELSINKI - Finnish President Tarja Halonen and Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi sent condolences to state leaders of Russia on the deadly explosion at a Moscow airport on Monday.

President Halonen extended deep condolences on behalf of the Finnish people to the families of the victims in the explosion at the Moscow airport.

On behalf of the Finnish government, Prime Minister Kiviniemi also expressed her deepest sympathies to the families of the victims.

Finnish Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb contacted his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and expressed his condolences. Stubb said that he was astonished by the bombing attack and condemned violence, adding that any incident of this kind should never happen again.

At least 35 people were killed and over 130 others injured in an explosion at Moscow's Domodedovo airport on Monday. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called this blast a terrorist attack.
