SEOUL, South Korea - A group of South Korean businessmen has traveled to the scenic Diamond Mountain resort of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) for talks on the fate of a joint tour project there.

The South Korean government suspended tours to the resort in 2008 after a North Korean soldier fatally shot a southern tourist.

The DPRK has repeatedly expressed its willingness to restart the tours, a legitimate source of hard currency for the impoverished country. But South Korea has rejected it saying the DPRK must first accept a joint investigation into the shooting death.

DPRK threatened last week to seize South Korea-owned assets at the resort.

The Unification Ministry says 19 South Korean tour operators are at the resort Thursday to discuss the program.
