According to the Fijivillage website, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe ?Bainimarama restated his decision at a meeting with about 130 church leaders.

The ban was first issued in January and a month later it was expanded to also ban the Methodists' divisional and quarterly meetings.

The latest extension came as the Fiji government has said it will ease its emergency rule once a new Media Decree has been released.

The decree is to replace the censorship rules which the regime put in place in April last year.
