Thai ministry: no more death from A/H1N1 contraction

BANGKOK: There was no additional death from the A/H1N1 influenza contraction, Thailand's Public Health Ministry disclosed Wednesday.

During a period from January 25 to 31, there was no death report due to the new flu contraction, hence the country's death toll from the new flu contraction was unchanged at 198, the ministry's website said. ?

Some 20-30 people found contracted with the new flu during the period, however their condition was not worrying, while the new disease was under control, the ministry said.

In a related development, Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanavisit is going to chair a meeting with provincial public health officials across the country through a video conference on Thursday. ?

The minister will instruct the officials, mainly doctors, about precautionary steps for a campaign of vaccination against the new flu.

The first measure is hospitals need to ensure they have medical instruments such as a respirator potentially for a person, who may develop a side effect after getting vaccinated, said the minister.

Prior to vaccinating, medical staff need to explain possible side effects to a person, who wants to be vaccinated, Jurin said.

A person, who wants to get vaccinated, will need to have a physical check to see if he or she is ready for the vaccination, the minister said. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

After getting vaccinated, he or she needs to remain at a hospital for at least 30 minutes to ensure that there is no side effect, Jurin said. ?

A pregnant woman needs to have a confirmation from her obstetrician if her condition is ready for the vaccination gainst the new flu, Jurin said.
