WARSAW:Poland's GDP in 2009 will go up by some 1 percent, compared with a 4.5-percent growth in 2008, the Economy Ministry said Friday.

In the second quarter of 2009, the country's GDP went up by 0.5 percent, ministry analysts said in a report on the first two quarters of 2009.

Inflation at the end of the year should go down to 3.0 percent, the report said, quoted by Polish news agency PAP.

In December 2009 the unemployment rate may go up to 12 percent, according to the report.

In 2009 Poland's exports should total 102 billion euros (about 145.8 billion U.S. dollars), down 12 percent from 2008, while imports will total 118 billion euros, down 17 percent, the report said.

The economy ministry also upheld its mid-July prognosis and estimates that the country's July's industrial output fell by 3.5 percent compared with that in the same period last year.

"We maintain our earlier estimates and we predict that in July industrial output fell by 3.5 percent," the Economy Ministry told PAP.Data released by the Central Statistical Office GUS indicate that Poland's industrial output in June fell by 4.3 percent compared with that in the same period last year.
