Swiss plane makes emergency landing after bomb threat

Updated: 2008-08-24 09:06 GENEVA -- A Swiss International Air Lines plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Saturday after a bomb threat was made against the flight, the official Swissinfo news website reported. The flight from Zurich to Malaga in Spain was overflying France when the pilot was informed a threat had been made via the Swiss offices, according to the report. The Airbus A321 then turned around and landed safely at Geneva airport. No one was injured during the landing, a spokesman of the airport was quoted by Swissinfo as saying. The passengers were evacuated on slides and taken to a waiting room. The airplane was then moved from the runway for checks by bomb disposal experts. But no explosive devices were found on the plane. Geneva Airport sources indicated there might have been a false alarm. |
