The royal wedding between Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling, taking place on June 19, was expected to provide solid revenue growth for the service and hospitality industry in Stockholm. The Swedish Trade Industry Organization, Svensk Handel, estimates that the wedding-related sales of products will be about 2.5 billion SEK (approx. US$ 320m). The Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association, SHR, forecasts an increase in hotel and restaurant turnover of 100 million SEK (approx. US$ 12.8m) in each of these sectors. Media intelligence company Cision has estimated that the direct media coverage will translate to SEK 800 million (approx. US$102m) in marketing value.
