On May 29, students from the Blue Sky Primary School toured Tsinghua University, accompanied by Tsinghua volunteers.

Students at Blue Sky are all from rural families, where their parents are migrant workers in Beijing.

During the trip to Tsinghua University, children learned to use public transportation and to identify signs all over the city.

Different from children in the city, migrant workers’ children live in the suburbs, and their parents are often too busy to take care of them. These children have difficulties adapting to the city life, because of limited educational resources. The purpose of this field trip was to help enhance the children’s self-confidence, so that they could adjust better to their urban life. The school also hopes that more social groups can become involved.
