Beijing police destroy landmines and grenades left over from a war on July 16, 2015. As with abandoned landmines, grenades are very hard to identify and police warn that people should not take unidentified objects home. [Photo/IC]

Landmine used to work out

A story on Legal Evening News tells us one should think twice before taking unidentified objects home.

A middle-aged Beijing resident surnamed Li stumbled onto what looked like a black ball when he walked alongside a river one day. The ball, as heavy as shot, looked perfect to use when exercising, Li thought. So he took it home and has used it in work outs since.

Li's neighbor found something unusual about the ball and suggested it might be a landmine, which took the man by a big surprise.

After being checked by the police, the ball proved to be a landmine left from a war period, and Li exclaimed he was a lucky dog for not being killed by it.
