NEW YORK - Tiger Woods withdrew from his own event, the AT&T National Tournament, on doctor's orders on Wednesday, saying he was still not fully recovered from knee and ankle injuries.

Woods, who has not played since pulling out of the Players' Championship last month, said on his Twitter account that he would still attend the June 30 to July 3 tournament in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania but would not be playing.

"Doctor's orders: sitting out the #attnational. I'll be in Philly to support the event. Feeling stronger every day, but not 100 per cent," he tweeted.

The 14-time major winner aggravated his left knee and Achilles tendon during the Masters at Augusta in April and missed last week's U.S. Open, won by Rory McIlroy.

The announcement is another setback for the 35-year-old American who had been targeting his own tournament for his return.

Woods, who has already had four surgeries on his troublesome left knee, has not won any tournament since the 2009 Australian Masters.

Apart from his injury woes, he has also been trying to rebuild his golf swing and his private life after the breakup of his marriage.
