Surfers are rarely honoured for winning just one event. But they are when the event is the Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau. Long secured all four of his top scores by committing to a late, never-say-die attack, including several death-defying rides and one a perfect 100-pointer. This is all the more incredible given that he only rode Waimea for the first time that week. The Eddie Akau is held only when surf is over 20 feet; surfers stand by all season to see if they get the call from organizers to compete.
