The 51-year-old Brawn, who helped Ferrari win six constructors' and five drivers' championships after joining in 1996, "has decided to turn his attention to his personal life," Ferrari said Thursday in a statement.

The move, which was widely anticipated, is the latest at Ferrari following the retirement of seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher.

Former Ferrari industrial director Mario Almondo was named as Brawn's successor.

Former team director Jean Todt was appointed chief executive Wednesday and will act as interim managing director during the reorganization. Also, Stefano Domenicali replaced Paolo Martinelli as sporting director.
