LONDON, May 29 - Britain's David Howell has moved into the top 10 in the world golf rankings for the first time in his career.

In the latest list issued on Monday after his win at the PGA Championship at Wentworth, the Englishman jumped from 17 to 10.

The 30-year-old romped to a five-stroke victory over fellow countryman Simon Khan in the European Tour's flagship event on Sunday.

American Jeff Maggert rose from 144th to 75th after beating Tom Pernice Jr by three strokes to triumph at the PGA Tour's St Jude Classic in Memphis.

Tiger Woods retained top spot ahead of fellow American Phil Mickelson and South Africa's Retief Goosen.
