7. Beijing will implement water environment treatment

Beijing will concentrate its efforts to improve water environment, disposing urban sewage all over the city by 2020 and eliminating river way black and odorous water. It will also attach greater importance to water conservation by renovating river ways and repairing river system in downtown area.

Thanks to the south-to-north water diversion project, Beijing receives water from Hanjiang River and it will continue to improve water-use efficiency and reduce water waste. There will be more research on sea water desalination and its use in Beijing.
