Natural capital consists of nature assets such as soil, air, water and all living things, according to the definition made by United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative at the Natural Capital Declaration issued in 2012.

"Not only charity but also commercial activities should be involved in developing and funding natural capital," said Liu Shengjin, vice-director of the Development Research Center of the State Council.

He gave an introduction on the possible investment activities on natural capital at the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2015, held in Guiyang, Guizhou province, June 26-28.

Liu added that standards needs to be set to regulate the natural capital investment activities and government may step up measures to stimulate growth investment in natural assets.

Enterprises plays active role in this investment, said Wang Jianzhou, former president of China Mobile Group.

Wang also said that China Mobile has made moves on investing in natural capitals, such as developing clean energy.
