The 13th Qingdao International Beer Festival, with a sheep called Yang Yang as its mascot, was held in August 2003. It accommodated 1.5 million tourists from home and abroad. The 2003 beer festival surpassed the achievements of previous festivals in Qingdao. It was considered the most amazing beer festival ever with the highest beer sales and the least tourist complaints.
