Employment rate of graduates hit 87% in 2009

The employment rate of Chinese university graduates reached 87 percent last year, china.com.cn reported.

Yin Chengji, the spokesman of China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security disclosed the data at a news conference in Beijing Friday.

China has some 7.1 million graduates seeking jobs nationwide in 2009, with 6.1 million fresh graduates. According to statistics, the employment rate of graduates hit 86 percent in 2008.

"We will put the issue of graduates' employment on the priority this year", said Yin, "and it will also be the focus in the following ten years."
