Centennial Olympic Park bombing at Atlanta Olympics

July 27, 1996 

The attack took place during a nighttime music concert at the Centennial Olympic Park. The explosion cliamed one life and injured over 110 others, while another person died of a heart attack. The International Olympic Committee has announced that the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games will go on. The Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 31, 2003 arrested Eric Rudolph, 36, accused of planting a bomb that killed two people and injured scores more at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
