Zhang Ruotian, a 25-year-old teacher at Dalian University of Technology, started taking pictures in 2007.

He likes to shoot urban life and urban scenery, and is now learning about and growing more interested in commercial photography. He believes that photography allows him to build and maintain personal and emotional ties to the world.

"If I hadn't gone into taking pictures, I could have started writing, recording life and building personal ties with the world. I like the feeling of being part of something and being in the world," Zhang said.

As for the most impressive moment in his photography life, Zhang recalled the first time he developed old film in a darkroom. "It's exciting to see the images deeply buried in your memory reshow themselves gradually."
