Ten years ago, Shi's son found Limei crying by the road and brought her home. Although the family could barely make ends meet, they took her in. After the foster father and mother died of illness in 2009 and 2010, it has been just Limei and her grandmother, who made a living by making grass ropes and earning 3 yuan ($0.4) a day.
