Lei Feng (1940-1962) was an ordinary Chinese soldier who was always handy and helpful to others during his entire lifetime of 22 years. In 1963, a "Learn from Comrade Lei Feng" campaign was initiated nationwide by Chairman Mao Zedong and since then Lei Feng has become a cultural icon representing earnestness and service.
