Models display replicas of clubs used for an ancient Chinese game called "Chuiwan" similar to golf at an exhibition in Beijing April 26, 2006. Government officials unveiled copies of paintings from the 13th and 14th centuries showing Chinese noblemen hitting balls into holes with clubs that look similar to modern golf. Golf is widely believed to have been invented by the Scots in the 15th century but some Chinese historians argue that the game was being played in China by the year 945, although not everyone is convinced about the authenticity of the claim. The Chinese word "Chui" means to hit and "wan" means ball. [Reuters]
